FALL TRAIL RIDE AND BUFFALO ROUNDUP

September 26th - 29th - 2008

How about a front row seat for viewing the roundup of 1500 head of Buffalo in South Dakota’s Custer State Park? That seat being the back of one of our well trained gentle saddle horses. Thrill to the sight of the herd running hell-bent through the hills with the riders in hot pursuit. With whips cracking and lots of yelling, the riders push the herd down onto the prairie and into the corrals.

Friday will be the first day of the ride and Rider Boss, Bob Lantis will guide you on a horseback visit to areas in Custer State Park that very few people ever see. Saturday we will ride down the French Creek Canyon, with the opportunity to see some of the parks wildlife, and come back on the Canyon Rim Trail. Sunday we will travel into areas of the park seldom seen. Monday, things get started early in Custer State Park, after breakfast at Blue Bell Lodge we trailer the horses to the Buffalo corrals and the roundup teams are briefed on the way things are supposed to go. Doesn’t always work out that way. Again you will be in an area where you can view the Roundup horseback. After the Buffalo have been gathered and we eat lunch on Monday, there is entertainment in the big tent and also you can watch the sorting and branding from the catwalks above the chutes.

During your stay in Custer State Park, you will have the possibility of seeing Buffalo, Elk, Deer, Big Horn Sheep, Coyotes, Eagles, Mountain Goats, Antelope, Prairie Dogs and even Mountain Lions, which we have seen in past years. Naturally, the Camp Cooks will have some of the best food in the West, served up hot and delicious, You will be staying in tents and living the cowboy way. Say, I almost forgot, there are brand new shower facilities available after each day of riding in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota.

Now to cap things off, the evenings will be spent around the campfire, listening to the songs and poems of the West. And most likely, a few coyotes will be harmonizing in the background. What a way to start the Fall Season, viewing the Buffalo Roundup horseback, and lots of beautiful country to ride in. The price for this four day fantastic adventure is $325.00 per person per day plus 5% State Sales Tax.
