GUNSEL HORSE ADVENTURES
presents
THE FALL BUFFALO ROUNDUP AND TRAIL RIDE
September 24th – 27th, 2010
Featuring
Michael Martin Murphey
How about a front row seat for viewing the roundup of 1500 head of Buffalo in South
Dakota’s Custer State Park with Michael Martin Murphey? That seat being on the back
of one of our well trained gentle saddle horses. Thrill to the sight of the herd
running hell-bent through the hills with the riders in hot pursuit, whips are cracking
and there is lots of yelling as the riders push the herd down the hills and into
the corrals

Friday, the first day, Honorary
Trail Boss, Michael Martin Murphey, will guide you on a horseback visit to areas
seldom seen in Custer State Park. Friday nite, you will be Michael's
guest at a Buffalo Roundup Concert at the Play House in Custer State Park. Saturday,
we will ride over to the Badger Hole, Home of the Poet Laureate of South Dakota.
He wrote some great cowboy poems and songs. Michael will perform some of Badger’s
works on the steps of Badger’s cabin, The Badger Hole. Saturday Nite,
you will be Michael's guest at the Play House for the second Buffalo Roundup Concert.
Sunday, Michael will guide you
down the beautiful French Creek Canyon and return on the Canyon Rim Trail.
Michael will entertain around the campfire Sunday nite.
Monday, after an early Breakfast at Blue Bell Lodge, we will trailer
the horses to the Buffalo Corrals and the roundup teams will be briefed on the way
things are supposed to go. Doesn’t always work out that way. You will be in a great
area to view the roundup on horseback. After the Buffalo have been gathered and
we eat lunch at the corrals, there will be entertainment in the big tent and also
you can watch the sorting & branding of the buffalo from the catwalks above the
chutes.

During your stay in Custer State Park, you will
have the possibility of seeing Buffalo, Elk, Deer, Big Horn Sheep, Coyotes, Eagles,
Mountain Goats, Antelope, Prairie Dogs, and even Mountain Lions, which we have seen
in the past. Naturally, the Camp Cooks will have some of the best food in the West,
served up hot & delicious. You will be staying in tents with floors & zippers and
living the cowboy way, with brand new shower facilities available after each day
of riding.
Now to cap things off, the evenings will be spent
around the campfire, listening to the songs and poems of the West presented by Michael
Martin Murphey and a host of other western entertainers. And most likely, a few
coyotes will be harmonizing in the background. What a way to start the Fall Season,
viewing the Buffalo Roundup horseback with Michael Martin Murphey and lots of beautiful
country to ride in.
The price for this 4 day fantastic adventure with Michael is $1800.00 per person
plus 5.5% state sales tax. A deposit of 50% is required to hold your reservation
with the balance due 30 days prior to the start of the roundup.
Send your deposit to Bob Lantis Box 1575 Rapid City, South Dakota 57709.
